How to Enable Time Clock Kiosk Photo Capture

Note: To enable the photo capture feature of Time Clock Kiosk on a device other than Android or iOS, use one of the following browsers:

  • Chrome 45+
  • Firefox 33+
  • Microsoft Edge






How to Set Up Time Clock Kiosk Photo Capture

  1. If you have not already, set up and authorize the kiosk. See:
  2. On a computer, go to SET UPTime Clock Kiosk.
  3. At the left, click the kiosk name.
  4. In the Edit Kiosk window, under REQUIRE PHOTO ON CLOCK IN/OUT, select YesSave.
  5. On the kiosk device, PIN in, PIN out, and PIN in again.
  6. A message displays asking for permission to use the device's camera. Follow your device's prompts to grant the permission.



Troubleshooting

Understanding Error Messages

If the camera permission was not granted, employees trying to clock in will see this:

Error Message What is Happening
Unable to take photo: Contact your company’s TSheets account administrator to grant camera access permission on this device. Permission issue. The device has a webcam and is using the right browser or the TSheets Kiosk app, but someone has turned off the device's camera permission. See: How to Enable Kiosk Photo Capture.
Unable to take photo: Contact your company’s TSheets account administrator to make sure that this device has the right software or hardware to take a picture. Setup Issue. Kiosk may be running on a computer/tablet without a webcam. Kiosk may be running on a device with a webcam but is running in a browser on iOS, Safari on Mac, an unsupported flavor of the Android browser, etc.

In all cases, the hardware must have either a built-in or accessory webcam.

On mobile, re-download the TSheets Kiosk app.

On desktop, access Kiosk through the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.

Or, if, in the TSheets Kiosk web app (computer), in the Kiosk Preferences window, you see a red exclamation mark next to a kiosk name, you will see one of the following messages:

Error Message What is Happening
We can’t determine if this device’s camera permission has been granted. See: How to Enable Kiosk Photo Capture We haven’t received any notification about whether the camera is on or not. This isn’t really an error state, just a notification to let an admin know the camera has not been set up.
Kiosk is unable to take photos because your device’s camera permission has not been granted. See: How to Enable Kiosk Photo Capture Permission issue. The device has a webcam and is using the right browser or the TSheets Kiosk app, but someone has turned off the camera permission on the device. 
This device may not have a webcam or may be running on an unsupported browser. See Which internet browsers can I use to access TSheets? Setup Issue. Kiosk may be running on a computer/tablet without a webcam. Kiosk may be running on a device with a webcam but is running in a browser on iOS, Safari on Mac, an unsupported flavor of the Android browser, or something else entirely.

In all cases the hardware must have either a built-in or accessory webcam.

On mobile, re-download the TSheets Kiosk app.

On desktop, access Kiosk through the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.

To fix the issue, do one of the following, depending on the device you are running kiosk on:

Android

  1. Learn which Android operating system version you have by going to: Settings > About Device > Android version.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • For Android 5 (Lollipop): When you install Kiosk, you will be asked for permission to use the device's camera. If you grant the permission, Kiosk will install. If you do not, Kiosk will not install.
    • For Android 6 (Marshmallow) and up: When you first use Kiosk, you will be asked for permission to Deny or Allow use of the device's camera. Select Allow. If permission was previously denied, on your device, go to Settings > Applications > TSheets Kiosk > Permissions > Camera to grant the permission.

iOS

  1. Tap Go to Settings.
  2. On your iOS device, tap PrivacyCameraTSheets Kiosk.
  3. To enable access, tap the toggle button on (green).

Chrome

If camera permission was previously set to Block, in the URL address bar, click the following:


Firefox

If camera permissions were previously blocked, at the top left of the URL address bar, you will see a camera icon with a diagonal line through it. To grant camera permission:

  1. Click the camera icon. A Permissions menu displays.
  2. To clear the setting, click Block X.

  3. Refresh the browser page. You will be prompted to set the camera permission.

Sarari

Safari does not support camera permission. Instead, from a mobile device, download the TSheets Kiosk Android or iOS device app. Or, if clocking in from a Mac, access the app from Chrome.

Microsoft Edge

In Kiosk, if this message displays: "Let [name] use your webcam?" instead of clicking "Allow once," click "Always allow."
